A Long Day, Sweating Over a Hot Wordpress…
Last night’s late dinner included grilled chicken risotto accompanied by White Merlot. Paula wasn’t in a mood to drink, and I had already wasted, er, used 2/3 cup of the nectar in the risotto. The remainder of the chilled, 1.5 liter bottle of wine just sat there; what to do, what to do?
I drank it, of course.
Then I remembered I had code work to do on the sites. So I logged in, then got on Google Talk and began to harass converse with my California buddy, Tom Chandler, who got me started in all this mess into blogging. The wine did its magic, and I got a lot done. I think. I’m not really sure, in the light of the new day.
Anyways, I got an early start, and I didn’t find any unexplained bits of code lurking in the files. Well, actually most of that code is unexplained, to me that is. But none of it looked like my typical stuff. (Good thing, too, as all I remember is 1970’s vintage Fortran.) My keyboard didn’t work too well, and it took more than the usual dose of caffeine to get going well, but I managed a few hours before the house began to wake up.
I decided to try my hand at some plug-in loads. I grabbed a couple I really wanted to install, then I had my trusty assistant Tina come over to help. We fiddled and tuned with them for the whole afternoon, trying to get them to behave.
No dice.
Tina left to pick up her boys, and I sat there, stunned that the whole day was shot with nothing big to show for it. I did find a promising plug-in to try later: reCAPTCHA. This one went in smoothly, but I decided to add some words to the comments form page so subscribers would know what to do after they’ve filled in their snide remarks cogent observations.
I got some more recipes up for your enjoyment, so the day wasn’t a complete waste, as far as site work is concerned. Dinner, however, was leftovers (risotto!) and KFC.
Tomorrow’s another day. Wear red, white and blue, and remember 9/11. Wherever this post finds you, Enjoy!
