Ooops! I Missed. (But It’s All Right, Really)

Yesterday was most hectic, with high school graduation (daughterperson’s leaving home!) and all. I did mange to find time to download Zoundry’s newest product, the Raven Beta. I have used Zoundry for a year, and found it to be a stable, serviceable blog editor. So when I found out they have a new editor in the works, I decided to give it a try. Well, what with one thing and another, I got Raven installed but not configured; so no post.

I got Raven running this morning. The good news about Raven is, I like it! The interface is clean, the options are more substantial than for Zoundry’s first product, and if you’re a WordPress user like me, you can edit and post to other (non-blog) pages on your site directly. (I think this feature may work in other blog environments, but I can’t speak to that directly.) That’s a great help, in my opinion, especially if you’re using your blog as a full-fledged site with stuff like archives, uploads and e-commerce. I don’t much care for the way WordPress directly handles file uploads through its Dashboard, for instance. It’s okay, but lots of steps. Once you learn the incantations it doesn’t take long, but I think (from first contact only, mind you) that Raven will be faster and more intuitive.

I’ll update as I learn more, of course. Please understand, if you choose to try Raven, it’s beta software, with no help file whatsoever, and no real guarantee that it will do your job. (Disclosure: I have no stock or interest in their company; indeed, I can barely spell Sundry Zoundaries Zoundry given three tries.)

Since I don’t have any recipe files ready to upload, here’s an easy drink to fix and enjoy while you wait:

Asian-Style Bloody Mary

Take a couple of clean hurricane glasses, dip them in water and freeze them for a half hour. Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients (except garnish) in a small pitcher and stir to combine; refrigerate.

When it’s time, take glasses out and quickly rub the rims with lime slices. Spread salt on a small, flat saucer. Invert glasses and coat rims in salt. Set upright and put about 1/2-cup ice in each glass. Pour cocktail over ice and garnish.

Repeat as necessary, until I get my next post up…
