I was mulling over which Malaysian or Indonesian dishes to tempt you with today when I got a phone call. It seems that I’ll be visiting India in late August and early September. That got me to digging in the archives for some of my favorite Indian dishes; not too hot, but with a solid zing. I found these for you to try:
No meat today! Oh well, most of us don’t eat enough vegetables as it is. Maybe having veggies that taste good will change things. DIdn’t someone once say we’d all be a lot healthier if vegetables tasted as good as bacon? These two dishes aren’t quite THAT good, but they’re about as close as you can get.
The squash and lentils dish goes together easily. You can use almost any summer squash you have, it works well regardless of your choice. “Batata” is the way “potato” sounds in some parts of India. Including the part I’ll visit! I look forward to enjoying “authentic” Batata Bhaji once I’m there.
Enjoy the (Indian) Heat!
