Kabobs on the Grill

It’s summertime, the best time for Modern Man to relive his Caveman roots. No, I don’t expect you to run out and find a tiger skin to wear; that’s not considered polite, especially to the tigers. You can also leave the hardwood club out of the ensemble.

Although, now that you mention it, you should get some hardwood. Charcoal. Or make some. However you acquire the fuel, you’ll want some for these recipes:

The meaty kabobs are quick to make, By using a mixture of ground meats you get a richer flavor. Of course, you can go with whatever you’ve got; even (gasp!) ground turkey. But that’s not very cavemanish; I’m sure they wiped most of the ground off their turkey before consuming. (Otherwise you could get a red card for a dirty fowl. Get it? Man, I crack me up.)

Sometimes, roasting pork on a grill makes it dry. This garlic-lime edition stays juicy. Just don’t over-cook it!

Neither of these preparations use fresh chiles, but red pepper flakes are a must-have. You can turn up the heat as much as you like by adding your favorite chiles to the marinade.

Sorry I missed yesterday; had a power outage (and subsequent router failure) just at a critical moment. Of course, nowadays it’s always critical when the router dies. I’ll post twice today to make it up to y’all…
