More Friday Follies VII: Vice Girls to Spice Girls?

Dancing LegsIt’s not a lot of news, but a special program has been launched in Edinburgh, Scotland to assist with a nagging social problem. You see, it seems the, er, ladies of negotiable affection are in their line of business only because they don’t know how to lead “structured lives.”

Enter the Scottish government. They recently awarded £55.000 ($110,000) to the New Women’s Healthy Living and Education Project, to reach out to “women in crisis.”

The program provides cooking classes to practicing Rent-a-Chippy franchisees in the hopes that having better life skills will help them get off the street.

And I thought the Spice Girls were so last millennium…

It’s not the career choice these birds have made that’s humorous. It’s the menu items.

In the comments to the article, several diverting possibilities are presented. Keep in mind, this stuff is often rated M! Here are some (fairly clean) tries:

  • Gobble and Squeak
  • Puttanesca Sauce (Naturally)
  • Moist Tart
  • Little Crumpets
  • Fish Fingers

Some commenter noted, “Why a class on cooking? Why not business or plumbing?” Huh? I thought that’s what they were doing already.

I don’t know if this strategy will work, and there are plenty of skeptics. Nonetheless, we may need to consider a similar intervention here in the USA soon. A recent report from Baton Rouge indicates that our current high inflation rates in food and gasoline are driving more women to take up pole dancing to earn extra cash.

And of course, it’s things like that which lead to “making ends meet,” and that puts us right back where we started…

Enjoy the (Cooking Class) Heat!
