If you wanted to collect bobblehead dolls of all the top chefs, you’d need a list first. Forbes has recently released the list of the top-earning celebrity chefs, based on their annual earnings. And the winners are: (kitchen-pan roll, please)
10. Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations, Kitchen Confidential) $1.5 million
9. Bobbly Flay (Throwdown, several restaurants) $1.5 million
8. Tom Colicchio (Top Chef, several restaurants) $2 million
7. Mario Batali (13 restaurants, some books) $3 million
6. Paula Deen (Food Network shows, magazine, etc.) $4.5 million
5. Alain Ducasse (22 restaurants worldwide) $5 million
4. Nobuyuki Matsuhisa (sushi for the stars) $5 million
3. Gordon Ramsay (Hell’s Kitchen) $7.5 million
2. Wolfgang Puck (TV, cookware, 16 restaurants) $16 million
1. Rachel Ray (Queen of branding) $18 million
My only question: Where’s Emeril on here? It’s easy to learn he earned $9 million, which would put him third… Maybe Forbes doesn’t like Bam!, or maybe they don’t think he’s a chef anymore (cuz he sold out to Martha Stewart). And where’s Giada? Her smile alone should generate a coupla mil a year…
