Getting Into Hot Water for Instant Noodles

Green Cup With Noodles

There are three fundamental ways to heat water hot enough for instant noodles. (I’m setting aside using more sophisticated equipment, such as the Large Hadron Collider, which would most certainly heat your water. The lead underpants requirement’s a bit bothersome with that method.) Electric Kettle, Microwave Oven, and Ordinary Heat Source.

We here at the Chile Underground Rave Reviews Department were planning to write THE killer article on electric kettles, but of course, the Web has taken care of that already. If there’s any question about kettles, I suggest you run (don’t walk) to this site and read. Other appliances, such as pressure cookers, are also considered by that site; it’s focus is electric water kettles, though, and it’s fairly tightly focused. Done!

The microwave oven option is so common, everyday and ordinary that the Chile Underground Kitchen Equipment Testing Labs are too lazy to consider so many options is loathe to spend your time with such trifling details. If you own a microwave oven of any size or power, you already know how to use it to boil water. If you don’t own one, you’ll need to crawl out from under your rock and join the 20th Century run right out and get one of these new-fangled appliances and make your life simpler. (Or not, if you own an electric kettle or Large Hadron Collider; see above.)

Of course, for those folks too cheap to even buy a simple electric kettle or microwave the purists in the audience, you can always heat water on a stove. Or a charcoal fire. Or use whatever alternative heat source (alcohol lamp, blowtorch, auto manifold, Megan Fox) you wish. If you do that, though, you’re on your own. We don’t deal with the mundane here at the Chile Underground. If we did, we wouldn’t have the time to bring you features like this one, or point you to important events such as the Ultimate Manliness Competition (complete with nude Gisele B√ľndchen)…

Enjoy the (Water-Boiling) Heat!
