Good News! Progress is so, well, progressive on the NaNoWriMo Challenge that I’m going to reset my personal goal for the month. I originally chose 125,000 words as an insane level of achievement a stretch goal. After days 1-3 of the month, when I had identically zero words on paper, I began to regret my decision. (What Was I THINKING!?) Now, though, 125k looks to be a snap, as I’m right at 90k words today. And tomorrrow’s only halfway through the calendar!
So, I decided to reset my goals. Impossopotamus is dead; long live Impossopotamus!
this time, I chose 165,000 words. That’s only a mere 40,000 words extra, right? Only the majority of a standard novel. No problem. Piece of cake, duck soup. Even without keeping up the current pace of 8,000 words a day, I’m likely to get 165k. That’s what I tell myself, every time I close my eyes and klick my ruby slippers together. After all, what’s a stretch goal for if you don’t have to stretch to reach it? Of course, now I’ll have nightmares of taffy pulling, or something.
There will be some low-total days coming, I know it. A trip to mom’s to help her get through her eye surgery. The obligatory turkey dinner. The mandatory football watching. Stuff like that. Still, there are plenty of days left in November! I hope…
Words Today, 7,860; Total Words, 89,540; Completion, 175.6%. Impossopotamus Completion, 54.3%
