So your Christmas holidays are getting boring these days, eh? You don’t have any food traditions, you just keep eating the same stuff every year. Turkey, check. Ham, ho hum. Green Bean Casserole? Yeah, and even though there’s never any left, it’s still the same ol’ casserole your great-granny used to make and serve.
What you need is something radically different, a game-changer; but one that doesn’t change the basics of your feast. Well, it’s time to kick your tastebuds into high gear! And I’ve got just the spice blend for you to accomplish this vital, victual-revitalizing goal:

It’s like curry, only different. Actually, it’s closer to some curry mixes than, say, chili powder is. The only item that may be hard to find is fenugreek seeds. This specialty spice is a typical curry component. Some folks don’t like it much, as it can have a bitter aftertaste. However, with so many other tongue-tingling tastes in the mix, the fenugreek bite isn’t so pronounced. For a similar flavor, but without the lingering aftertaste, substitute yellow mustard seed. Fenugreek is purported to have several important health effects, including as a galactogogue for nursing mothers. (try getting THAT word into your next social discussion over mulled wine at the office party. I bet you can’t do it!)
Whether or not you use fenugreek, I think you’ll like this spice mix. It’s addictive! It can be used on meats, or in many vegetable combos. Any place you want a savory kick it works well, in my opinion. Just don’t enjoy too much mulled wine before you cook with it, or you may find your tastebuds kicked into high orbit…
Enjoy the (African Holiday Spice) Heat!
