Happiness is Influenza in Your Rear View Mirror

Although I can’t claim to be 100% yet (and wifeyperson says that’s a good thing, in some respects), I’ve clearly recovered from the ‘flu bug. It’s not something I recommend everybody experience, but it sure feels good to be over it and back!

So good, in fact, that I’m cooking again. Stacked enchiladas already this week, and today I’ll prepare some sides for an upcoming family feast. I’m making comfort-food style dishes: Buttery-sweet carrots, and braised green beans Texas style. Which is sorta regular Southern style, but with fresh jalapeƱo slices on the side to make them zesty. (I’d cook them in, but wifey says not to. Sigh.)

And for the weekend, so I don’t have to do a lot of cooking while gardening, I’m making a big ol’ pot of chili. A slow-cooker full, to be exact. It’s going to be Good Eats around the Round Rock White House the next few days…

Enjoy the (Renewed Interest in Life) Heat!
