It’s August, and that’s open season on wild prickly pear. The jelly I made recently for daughterperson came out so great we’re going down South for the weekend, long tongs in hand, searching for the best in red fruit. We know it’ll be hot, but that’s the best time to bag these elusive, thorny game.
I’m hoping for enough juice to give maybe three more batches of jelly. One straight, one with some really nice, hot chiles, and a third to experiment with. Maybe mango? Guava? Kiwi? Something alcoholic?
The sky’s the limit; wish us luck…
