It’s Farmers Market Season: Round Rock’s Saturday Market

VeggieS tall

The Georgetown Farmers Market Association sponsors a smaller fair in-between Round Rock and Georgetown, at Scott & White near the outlet malls. Access is easy; we go north on I-35 a few exits, then east on University. Scott and White is on the left, about a quarter mile down.

We’ve been twice this year. A cozy market with about 20 or so vendors, we’ve found the folks to be very friendly and the offerings attractive. Produce is featured from several farms, including Star Farms (a nice U Pick location in Rockdale), Olive Hills Farms, Tiemann’s Tasty Produce and more. Tamales from the Tamale Man, olive oil from Central Texas Olive Ranch, and bread. Plenty of goodies! We spent the rent on tamales and chips, cinnamon bread, and a large selection of fruit and vegetables. (We may become homeless, but we’ll eat well!)

There’s another Round Rock Farmers Market (part of the Farms 2 Market association) I’ve heard about, gathering on Sunday afternoons; may have to check them out soon! They’re even closer to the house, just east of I-35 on U.S. 79.

I love these markets, and you should consider going to one near you! The food’s good, the socializing’s great, and you can even take your dog along. Sonia’s the hit of the puppy parade, and she loves it…

Enjoy the (Fresh Produce Fun) Heat!
