The garden’s going great guns here. The cherry tomatoes are over four foot tall now, with others just behind. I’d guess there are 50 pounds of tomatoes on the dozen plants. Even the heirloom Black Krim is setting fruit nicely. We’ve already harvested some yellow pears. The lonely tomatillo, Fatima, is doing much better, [...]

The garden’s all in here, and it’s about time! Spring’s trying to pass us by, with 90 degree afternoons and lots of sun. No rain (no recordable precipitation; driest March ever, so far), so we’re watering as required. Water restrictions (Stage 1) are in place; more can’t be far away.
In spite of that, the [...]

One of the promises PJ and I made to each other this winter, as we were lugging boxes back into our unsold house, was that we would restart the vegetable garden. Well, it’s time hereabouts. (Sorry, all you folks in the Frozen North.)
This past week we gathered together our plans, bought some seeds and [...]

Although I can’t claim to be 100% yet (and wifeyperson says that’s a good thing, in some respects), I’ve clearly recovered from the ‘flu bug. It’s not something I recommend everybody experience, but it sure feels good to be over it and back!
So good, in fact, that I’m cooking again. Stacked enchiladas already this [...]

The hot weather continues here in central Texas; which isn’t much news if you’re familiar with the region. Nothing swirling in the Gulf to cool us off either. Which means It’s Grilling Time again!
Wifey got home from playing with the new baby, her sister’s, for what seemed like a month. It wasn’t quite that [...]

I spent an interesting Friday afternoon at Texas Lutheran. The fall semester is about to take up, and we have a plot afoot: We’re going to use some of the facilitative methods we’ve built for industry to see if we can push the freshman Chemistry students to be more successful. A big challenge! Performance [...]

Summer Research kicks off today at Texas Lutheran University, and I’m invited (again) to join the astonishingly fabulous faculty in Chemistry. It’s hard work and harder thinking, but very satisfying! (Good thing too, given the pay rate.) The only small quibble for me, I have the exact same students I had last summer.
I suppose [...]

Sophie Monk and Chiles, From PETA Website
With the Superbowl only a few days away and the pregame festivities in full swing (I think ESPN is holding a 60-hour pregame show), I decided to see if there were any “sneak peeks” on some of the Superbowl TV ads.
Sure enough, there is! From PETA, no [...]
